Greece 1821-2021: World celebrates the bicentennial of the Greek Revolution and honors

The eternal blue and white color  as the Greek Flag.

Cities in the world honered the bicentennial of the Greek revolution organizing multitude of light shows for the occasion, expressing their gratitude and respect to a country whose strong will for freedom inspired the whole world .

 

Starting from  Odessa where the Society of Friends  a secret organization was founded in 1814,   the Greek celebrations travelled till Buenos Aires , Los Angeles and São Paulo honouring  the Greek civillazition. 

 

In Australia, the Greek flag was projected on the iconic Sydney Opera House, on the National Museum of Australia in Canberra, 

the Government of Ontario, the City of Toronto, and other municipalities such as the City of Niagara Falls, decided to illuminate their famous landmarks on the night of March 24-25 with the colours of the Greek Flag.

 

 

The Holy Monastery of the Holy Cross, the oldest Monastery of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, will be illuminated in Jerusalem.

In Munich was  illuminated the Propylaea, which were built in Doric style inspired, freely, by the Propylaea of the Parthenon. 

 

Tel Aviv illuminated another landmark building, at least for basketball fans, the Yad Eliau Arena, home of the famous Maccabi Tel Aviv. 

Other luminous celebrations took place in  Sursock Museum in Lebanon, in Riyadh the capital of Saudi Arabia that gave light to the The Al Faisaliyah Centre, the city hall of Rome , Brussels in Grand Place and the Eiffel Towet in Paris
